Deltona, Florida was built in 1962 and advertised worldwide as the 'ultimate planned community'.  The Mackle Brothers, who constructed the original development, chose their location wisely.  Deltona sits on the gently rolling ground north of Lake Monroe, and is ideally situated between the major cities of Orlando and Daytona Beach, almost twenty-five miles from each.

Found in Southwest Volusia County, Deltona's climate is a mix of sub-tropical and the more temperate traditional Southern climate.  The average daily summer temperature is 90 degrees while the average winter temperature is 50 degrees.  Deltona enjoys a three-season year of spring, summer and fall, with an average rainfall of 53 inches, arriving mostly in the summer months.

Located only thirty miles from the Atlantic Coastline, residents can easily enjoy the surfing and deep-sea fishing charters found at Daytona Beach, not to mention the annual racing at the Daytona Speedway.

All of the exciting theme parks and glamorous worlds of Orlando's Universal Studios and Walt Disney World, Sea World and luscious nightlife are a short drive away for Deltona's population of almost 70,000 (census 2000).  Interstate Highway 4 gives easy access to these metropolises.

Deltona's carefully plotted paved streets, excellent storm drainage and well thought out placement of fire stations, churches and medical offices, make it a modern town that still holds a quiet neighborhood atmosphere. About half of the population consists of retirees, with the other half being young families who commute into the cities for employment.
