Poinciana,
Florida, a master-planned community, is a mere
twenty miles from Walt
Disney World, where fantasies and dreams come to
life. Poinciana itself is a dream come true for
the many who live here.
Poinciana's 35 square
miles of land are located in northern Osceola
and eastern Polk counties. The 2000 Census placed the
population at 13,647. Shimmering lakes and wooded
conservation areas make up over forty percent of the
town's 47,000 acres. The Reedy Creek Nature Preserve
offers horseback riding trails. Snell Creek and
Huckleberry Island conservation areas each have new
nature trails. The Walt Disney Wilderness Preserve
neighbors Poinciana, and contains over 10,000 more acres
of pristine natural beauty.
Bustling
Orlando,
with all its theme parks and attractions, lies only
27 miles away. The Orlando
International Airport provides access to the
world, while Poinciana residents can easily dwell in
their own private corner of natural beauty, only
emerging when they choose to.
Osceola
County was originally cowboy country. Forever
Florida is a working cattle ranch just east of St.
Cloud, where visitors can both observe and try their
hand at cowboy life. Poinciana's neighboring towns
include some with such colorful names as Yeehaw
Junction, Intercession City, and Celebration.
Other county town names reflect the area's
Seminole heritage: Kissimmee,
Holopaw, Lokosee and Narcoossee. Central Florida
is quite a diverse area, and the area surrounding
Orlando in particular boasts a huge range of
choices in real estate and community 'flavor'.
Poinciana
offers several neighborhood schools. The largest
park, Vance Harmon Park, features soccer, football
fields, a baseball diamond, tennis, basketball and
racquetball courts, along with a fitness trail and an
all-weather pavilion with barbecue grills for picnics.
The Stonegate Golf course is a semi-private club,
designed by Ron
Garl the premier golf course architect. Water
sports abound in Poinciana, with canoeing and kayaking,
fishing and boating.
Poinciana,
Florida is a quiet haven of natural beauty, with the
bright lights of the big city still
visible in the nighttime sky.
